After working as financial consultant in a bank and securities company, he continued his study in Illinois University and received his MBA in 1995. After that he worked at Softbank Co. Ltd in finance section that handle fund procurement, financial management, and also responsible for preparation of planning and establishment of subsidiary companies. In 1998, he took part in planning to establish Morning Star Japan and he worked for Morning Star USA. Since 2004 until now, he worked for Morning Star Japan. As mutual fund analyst company, Morning Star always strife to give investment information accurately and objectively to help investors to grow their capital. With Abenomics, Japanese economy is slowly showing its luster again. This caused the investment market to start showing positive trend. People who previously withhold to invest in stocks, now start opening up again. Then the impact of NISA (Nippon Individual Saving Accounts) that was started in 2014 made a lot of people to start investing. A lot of individual investors have high hopes on current condition.

As a popular capital market instrument among individual stock traders, ââÅ¡¬ÃƒÆ’…Mutual FundââÅ¡¬ is second most attractive investment method after individual stock investment. Several factors which push the popularity of Mutual Fund are: managed by professionals, able to start with small sum, safe because not only handled by the securities companies, but also banks, post offices, and other financial institutions.

I work as the head of Morning Star Japan which is third-party institution which give assessment to Mutual Fund. My job here is to give advice to individual investors relating to Mutual Fund. Among various problems that I encountered, one common problem is many investors are interested in Mutual Fund but do not know which one to buy.

Up until today, companies that are listed in Tokyo Stock Exchange reach 3800 companies. You must can imagine how many companies are those. Even people who already understand about stocks will be shocked with the number, let alone beginners. Do you know how many mutual funds that currently present in Japan?

When choosing Mutual Fund, skill in picking the right one is needed. In this series, I intend to tell you what kind of skill that is needed.
